Description
Awarded the IHRU Award and a Honorable Mention in the Building Rehabilitation category, these three nearby houses, designed by architect Paulo Moreira at Caldeireiros street, are an example of how much you can do with very little in the scope of housing in the historical centre. A delicate and simultaneously imaginative intervention, it shows remnants of the systems and building techniques of the time, reinterpreted in the aesthetic value given to them by contemporaneity. Details like the shape of a mirror that adapts itself to the granite surface or the recycling of windows turned into kitchen cupboards are proof that “nothing is lost all is transformed”.
