Description

The Casa da Arquitectura (House of Architecture), an association whose main goal is to promote national architecture, has its headquarters in a 19th century house, renovated by Álvaro Siza Vieira in 1961 upon request of his parents. Acquired by the Matosinhos Municipality in 2007, it was subject to a slight renovation, guided by Siza, so that it would house the activities of the association. The workspaces, the library, the exhibition room, the archive or the small store, where adapted to the house’s typology, without betraying its scale and homely feel. The furniture and lamps, as well as the use of wood in details that only Siza seems to be able to design, imprint the House of Architecture with a very special type of comfort.
