Description

Opened ten years ago, Casa da Música, designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas (OMA), got the city in every magazine and newspaper in the world. Its meteoric and autonomous shape was presented as a manifest, more ironic than arrogant, against the idea of contextualization. Even so, the building was immediately adopted by the city, and its public space by skaters. More coherent than other Koolhaas works, the volumetric of the building structures itself around its two main rooms. The accesses and staircases, somewhat labyrinthine in concrete and aluminium-like tone, end up regulating the exceptionally colourful small spaces that remained. If you already know the VIP room or the terrace, then visit the rehearsal and dressing rooms.
