Description
This residential building, designed by César Machado Moreira and Cláudia Dias, even though it’s not a renovation project (it is built from scratch, inside the ruin of a house) it nevertheless makes us think of what was there before. The new building rises with formal simplicity but with a complex articulation of spaces, that relate to existing façades in a provocative and ironic way. The scenographic gesture of aestheticizing the ruin, more than just appealing to the memory of the city, appeals to the legitimation of its future. The predominant colour can only evoke the fact that this building was born out of ashes.
