Description
Designed by architect Paula Santos, this multifamily residential construction, built from scratch, rationally interprets the traditional typology of the house from Porto with a central staircase and upper clerestory, turning the single residential unit into four residential units (one duplex and three T2 apartments). However, the elevations are far from traditional, and look for an autonomous language, openly generic, and the result of a rigorous geometry that implied the prefabrication of large dark grey concrete panels. Like in all buildings designed by Paula Santos, the apparent formal simplicity is the result of a demanding exercise when it comes to details. Minimalism as a concept imported from visual arts meets in this street of galleries and this building its architectural counterpart.
