Description

Opened in 1970, the tower of the Jornal de Noticias [Notícias Newspaper] expresses, alongside the tower of the Hotel D. Henrique or the Cooperativa dos Pedreiros [Bricklayers Cooperative], the will to transform the skyline of the Portuguese cities of the time. Designed by architect Márcio de Freitas, this building shows different approaches in its elevations drawing upon the city’s granite and an adjusted scale, which is made clear in the prominent volume of the Gonçalo Cristóvão street. With a tile panel designed by Charters Monteiro, this is also an opportunity to understand how the offices of one of the best-selling daily newspapers work.
